Today, we would like to share the story of a wonderful 8-day Sri Lanka tour with our lovely guests from the UK, Liz Fraser and Hamish Fraser.
We were truly honored and delighted to welcome Liz and Hamish to Sri Lanka and have the opportunity to show them some of the beautiful places, rich culture, traditions, delicious Sri Lankan food, natural beauty and warm hospitality that make our island such a special travel destination.
Liz and Hamish wanted a relaxed and comfortable Sri Lanka holiday that suited their interests and preferred pace. We therefore created a private Sri Lanka tour itinerary based on their wishes. As they preferred not to rush from place to place, we carefully planned their journey to give them enough time to enjoy each destination
Their 8-Day Sri Lanka Journey
The main Sri Lanka tour was planned for 8 days. After completing their private tour with Chathu Lanka Tours, Liz and Hamish continued their holiday for a few more days along the beautiful southern coast of Sri Lanka before returning to the UK.
This was a wonderful opportunity for them to experience Sri Lankan culture, nature, local life and some of the country’s beautiful travel destinations at a comfortable pace.
Arrival in Sri Lanka & Negombo , Liz and Hamish arrived in Sri Lanka at 3:55 PM. After meeting them at the airport, we travelled to Negombo, a beautiful coastal town close to Bandaranaike International Airport. They spent their first night beside the beach.

Day 1 – Colombo Airport → Negombo | Arrival in Sri Lanka
Arrive at Colombo International Airport at 3:55 PM on EK 654.Private airport transfer to Negombo.
Relax and enjoy your first evening beside the beach. Overnight: Negombo
Day 2 – Negombo Sightseeing & Lagoon Tour
– Visit the famous Negombo Fish Market and experience local fishing life.
– Enjoy a Negombo Lagoon boat tour through mangroves, fishing communities and birdlife.
Relax and explore the coastal atmosphere of Negombo. Overnight: Negombo
Day 3 – Negombo → Dambulla → Sigiriya | Cultural Triangle Travel towards the Cultural Triangle of Sri Lanka.
– Visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
– Explore the local Dambulla vegetable market and experience everyday Sri Lankan life.
Continue to Sigiriya and relax at your hotel.Overnight Sigiriya
Day 4 – Sigiriya → Kandy | Culture & Village Experience Early-morning visit to Sigiriya Rock Fortress, one of Sri Lanka’s most famous attractions.
– Experience an authentic Sri Lankan village tour, including a bullock cart ride, catamaran boat trip and traditional cooking experience.
– Visit a Spice and Herbal Garden. – Enjoy the famous Kandy Cultural Show with traditional Kandyan music and dancing. Overnight Kandy
Day 5 – Kandy Sightseeing & Sri Lankan Food Experience
– Visit Kandy View Point for panoramic views of the city.
– Explore the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya.
– Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of Sri Lanka’s most important Buddhist sites.
– Explore Kandy’s local shops, handicrafts, gems and souvenirs.
– Enjoy a traditional Sri Lankan cooking demonstration and homemade dinner at our home with the Chathu Lanka Tours family. Overnight Kandy
Day 6 – Kandy → Nuwara Eliya → Ella | Tea Country & Scenic Train Travel through the beautiful Sri Lankan hill country.
– Visit a Ceylon tea plantation and tea factory and learn about Sri Lanka’s world-famous tea industry.
– Stop at beautiful Ramboda Waterfall.
– Experience the famous Nanu Oya to Ella scenic train journey, one of the most beautiful train rides in Sri Lanka. Overnight Ella
Day 7 – Ella → Yala | Waterfalls, Mountains & Wildlife Safari
– Visit the iconic Nine Arch Bridge in Ella.
– Enjoy a short hike to Little Adam’s Peak.
– Visit Ravana Waterfall.
– In the afternoon, enjoy a Yala National Park Jeep Safari, where you may see Sri Lankan leopards, elephants, crocodiles, deer and many species of birds. Overnight Tissamaharama
Day 8 – Yala → Southern Coast | Beach Holiday
Enjoy a scenic drive along the beautiful southern coast of Sri Lanka.
– Drop off at your chosen beach resort in Bentota.

Sri Lanka has so much to offer, and every part of Liz and Hamish’s Sri Lanka travel itinerary was an opportunity to experience something different — from beautiful landscapes and cultural attractions to local food, villages and the warmth of Sri Lankan people.
We travelled at a comfortable pace and made time for them to enjoy each place rather than simply rushing from one attraction to another.
Our aim was to give them a genuine Sri Lanka travel experience, combining popular destinations with local experiences and the opportunity to see a little of everyday life in Sri Lanka.
A Special Experience with the Chathu Lanka Tours Family
One of the most memorable moments of their journey happened on Day 5.Chathu Lanka Tours is based in the Kandy area, and we wanted Liz and Hamish to experience something more personal than a normal tourist activity.So, we invited them to our home village and shared a traditional Sri Lankan meal together with the Chathu Lanka Tours family.It was a very special occasion for all of us
They had the opportunity to taste delicious homemade Sri Lankan food, experience our village atmosphere and spend time with our family.For us, this was not simply another stop on their Sri Lanka tour itinerary. It was a chance to welcome our guests as friends and share a small part of our everyday Sri Lankan life with them.This authentic local experience also became one of the most memorable experiences of their Sri Lanka holiday.
Travelling with a Friend, Not Just a Driver
As a local Sri Lanka driver and tour guide, my goal is always to make my guests feel comfortable, safe and welcome while giving them the freedom to enjoy Sri Lanka at their own pace.I don’t want my guests to feel that they are simply following an itinerary.I want them to feel that they are travelling with a friend.
Every traveller is different, so I always try to understand what my guests enjoy and adjust the journey where possible.Sometimes it is a beautiful viewpoint, sometimes a local restaurant, a village experience, a conversation with local people or simply stopping somewhere beautiful to take photographs.
